In February 2023, Uzbekistan experienced a significant shift in its vegetable and fruit trade, with record imports of sweet peppers and herbs, and a notable decrease in the export of greens. The shortage of sweet peppers in the country was compensated by imports from Iran, Tajikistan, Pakistan, and Turkey, and there was a high demand for imported greens. The exports of cauliflower and broccoli also saw a decrease, while the export of zucchini, beets, and radishes increased. Demand for these vegetables remains high in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia, leading to a 40% increase in supply compared to February 2022.
