Egypt continues to increase its presence in the EU frozen strawberry market

Having doubled the supply of frozen strawberries to the EU market over the past five years, Egypt continued to increase exports this year, EastFruit reports. In the first seven months of this year, exports of this frozen berry from Egypt to the EU countries reached a record level for such a period. In total, from January to July 2023, 95 thousand tons of Egyptian frozen strawberries were imported into the EU countries, which is 5% higher than in the same period of the previous year and one and a half times higher than the average for the previous five years! Moreover, only in May and June of this year, exports from Egypt to the EU were lower than last year, while in other months they significantly exceeded it. Let us recall that last year Egypt provided almost two-thirds of the import of frozen strawberries into the EU from countries outside its membership.
