Egypt continues to strengthen its position in the sweet potato market in the Netherlands

Egypt has held the position as the second largest supplier of sweet potatoes to the Dutch market for the fourth consecutive season, according to EastFruit. In addition, unlike many other supplier countries, Egypt only increases its exports of sweet potatoes to the Netherlands from year to year. Over the past 2021/22 season, Egypt exported 42,000 tons of sweet potatoes to the Netherlands, and in the first ten months of this season, almost 51,000 tons of this product. Given that exports in May-June are usually low, the final result of the season will not change much over these two months. Thus, over the past six seasons, Egypt has been able to increase the export of sweet potatoes to the Dutch market by at least 14 times!
