Egypt has been allocated an annual share of 125 tons of swordfish in the Mediterranean Sea from 2025, following the country's participation in the 24th Annual Conference of the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) in Limassol, Cyprus, in 2024. This achievement aligns with Egypt's strategic goals, as outlined in Vision 2030, aimed at sustainable development, reducing poverty, and improving livelihoods. The Egyptian delegation's success is attributed to their submission of a fishing plan and historical fishing data, alongside their commitment to conservation measures and compliance with ICCAT's regulations. The conference marked a significant step towards sustaining Mediterranean fish resources and supports Egypt's initiative to enhance sustainability in fisheries and aquaculture on a global scale.
