Egypt has become the top exporter of oranges to European markets, surpassing Spain and South Africa. In the last season, Egypt exported 458 thousand tons of oranges to Europe, an increase of 83% compared to the previous season. The growth in Egyptian orange exports to Europe over the past ten seasons has been 279%, due to adherence to European legislation and quality standards. Spain, the largest orange producer in Europe, experienced a decline in production by over 22% due to climate changes and adverse weather conditions.
