The article discusses the positive effects of beekeeping projects on empowering rural women and conserving the environment in Sofala, a region affected by climate change. These projects align with the 2024 Rural Women’s Day theme of climate resilience and biodiversity by replacing harmful honey harvesting with sustainable practices. Supported by UN Women and ADEL-Sofala, the initiative has provided women with stable income, reduced deforestation, and boosted food security through better crop yields. By challenging gender norms and fostering socio-economic growth, these women highlight the connection between gender equality and environmental care.
