Italy: End of the year with a positive sign for Marsala wild strawberries

The production and commercial campaign of wild strawberries from the Marsala area, on the western tip of Sicily, continues at full speed. The harvest, which began in September, is bringing a healthy product to the market, of excellent quality and with more than satisfactory volumes. “2024 is closing on a positive note: the year is regular, with production slightly up on average, so much so that part of it will be dedicated to frozen products. We will continue peacefully until June,” says agronomist Antonino Bongiorno, commercial director of Ortoflorofrutticola Bufalata. As always happens in the pre-Christmas weeks, prices are reaching their peak these days, even doubling compared to usual. “It is a period in which wild strawberries are particularly in demand, but things will return to normal immediately after Christmas,” explains Bongiorno.
