Engineer's Day: Profession is essential for sustainable agriculture

Agronomist Day is celebrated this Sunday (12). The date marks the 92 years since the regulation of the profession, which occurred in 1933, during the government of Getúlio Vargas. Agronomists play a fundamental role in the protection of plants and the phytosanitary safety of Brazilian agriculture. Present from the field to scientific research, these professionals are responsible for ensuring the quality of plant production, the sustainable use of natural resources, and the surveillance against pests and diseases that threaten crops throughout the country. The training of an agronomist is one of the most comprehensive in the agricultural sector, combining biological, exact, and human areas. This multidisciplinary base allows for action in different areas, from teaching and research to rural extension services and agricultural defense.
