The Ministry of Agriculture of Eritrea has initiated a nationwide campaign to promote the cultivation of sweet potatoes. The initiative, which is being implemented in collaboration with the Ministries of Health and Education and local governments, aims to include sweet potatoes in the diet of all villages and schools by 2023. The Ministry has started awareness programs to encourage the growth of sweet potatoes and has made it one of its top priorities. Asmeret Damir, the ministry's spokeswoman, stated that the campaign will focus on making sweet potatoes a staple food for families with children under five.
