After rising for seven consecutive weeks, the price of hydrated ethanol lost momentum and closed with a slight decline in São Paulo. This is what the surveys by the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea) indicate. Between September 8 and 12, the Cepea/Esalq Indicator for hydrated ethanol was R$ 2,7813/liter (net of ICMS and PIS/Cofins), a slight depreciation of 0.06% from the previous period. According to the research center, the pressure came from reduced demand for the biofuel. In addition, distributors made small purchases outside the São Paulo market. In fact, the volume of hydrated ethanol captured in the spot market over the last week was the lowest of the 2025/26 crop.
