In 2019, the European Union's total agricultural production rose by 2.4% to € 418 billion at basic prices, driven by increases in gross value added, despite a slight rise in intermediate consumption. France, Germany, Italy, and Spain were the top producers. The value of crop production grew by 1.8%, driven by certain crops, while livestock production increased by 3.6%, largely due to higher prices for pigs, milk, and sheep and goats. However, the increase in agricultural services had minimal overall impact on agricultural production, as the cost of agricultural inputs also slightly increased by 0.8%.
