The Ministry of Industry and Trade in Vietnam has reported a decrease in the European Union (EU 27) imports of tea in the first quarter of 2020, with a drop of 7.8% in volume and 8.7% in value compared to the same period in 2019. The total value of these imports was 244.4 million Euros (276.1 million USD). India and China were the primary suppliers of tea to the EU 27, but there was a decrease in imports from these countries. The EU 27 also increased its imports from Kenya and Argentina. The imports were predominantly black tea, with a 72% share, followed by green tea at 24.8%. The value of imports from Vietnam, which was the 19th largest tea market for the EU 27, also decreased by over 18% in volume and 31.2% in value.
