The European Union's Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) received 658 reports during the 2021/2022 campaign regarding the excessive presence of pesticides in fruits and vegetables imported into the EU, with most of the reports being about bell peppers. Turkey was the country with the most alerts, followed by Egypt, India, Uganda, and China, with Turkey's alerts mainly being about peppers which in many cases were destroyed upon reaching EU borders.
