EU: Potato prices are rising rapidly

Major loss of potato crops Potato farmers in 2023 had to face difficult weather conditions, high disease pressure and very high costs. The Association of Potato Growers in Northwest Europe (NEPG) estimates that in its area of operation (France, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium) approximately 11,000 ha of crops and at least 650,000 tons of potatoes. Increase in futures prices Prices on the European futures market continue to rise and stand at EUR 37.50 per 100 kg for the April contract - EUR 7 more than in December and almost twice as much as during the last lowest price in November of less than EUR 20 per 100 kg.
