European banana and plantain producers launch the roadmap planned for the increase of POSEI community aid

The representatives of all the banana producers in the Canary Islands, and banana producers from the French regions of Martinique and Guadeloupe and Madeira, in Portugal, have outlined the new agenda of actions in view of the start of the new draft Community budget. As they have been doing since their association in 1992, the specificities of their production, small-scale and traditional in relation to the large multinationals that dominate the international banana market, require a continuous effort to transmit their reality to the political and technical leaders of the Community institutions. Once the legislature of the European Parliament has begun, and with the new European Commission restarting its work, the Community banana producers aim to position the current situation faced by the more than 30,000 people who work daily in the sector.
