Europe is experiencing a significant impact of drought on the yield and quality of silage maize, particularly in France, Italy, and Romania, with the severity of the impact on total European yield remaining uncertain. The shortage of European maize is expected to be compensated by Brazilian GMO maize due to the higher costs of non-GMO maize. Wheat in Europe has had a good harvest, but there is market nervousness regarding soya meal availability and prices. In the US, soy is also facing high temperatures and drought, with the potential to negatively affect yield. Low water levels are causing logistical issues for feed suppliers, leading to higher transport rates and challenges in rapeseed supply to crushes along the Rhine.
