The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Vietnam is planning to increase the export of several products, including coffee, passion fruit, pomelo, coconut, and dragon fruit, to the European Union (EU) under the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the EU (EVFTA). The EU is the largest consumer of Vietnamese coffee, accounting for 40% of the total volume and 38% of the total export turnover. The EVFTA Agreement is expected to further boost the competitiveness of these products in the EU market by providing tax incentives. Additionally, the agreement is expected to lower costs for Vietnamese goods exported to the European market, improving their competitiveness, especially for agricultural products. Preliminary statistics show that the export value of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products to the EU in August 2020 was 350 million USD, growing at 17%.
