The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) has observed a global trend of countries implementing restrictions or bans on food exports, particularly rice, sugar, corn, and wheat, which will be in effect until 2023. India, Russia, Bangladesh, and Uganda have implemented restrictions on rice exports, leading to a decline in rice imports from India and a shift to other countries such as Vietnam and Thailand for Indonesia. Similarly, restrictions on sugar exports by India, Lebanon, and Pakistan have resulted in a decrease in sugar imports from India and an increased reliance on imports from Thailand and Brazil for Indonesia.
