The Moroccan government is set to significantly increase the value-added tax on alcohol starting February. The tax hike will see wines increase from 850 to 1,500 dirhams per hectoliter, beer from 1,150 to 2,000 dirhams per hectoliter, and pure and ethyl alcohol from 18,000 to 30,000 dirhams per hectoliter. The government anticipates generating 887,350,000 dirhams from duties on wine and alcohol, and 1,127,700,000 dirhams from duties on beer.
