In 2022, Kazakhstan's exports of wheat and flour to Kyrgyzstan significantly decreased by 7.4 times for wheat and 3 times for flour compared to 2021. Kyrgyzstan's imports of wheat from Kazakhstan reached only 2.86 thousand tons, and flour imports dropped to 9.05 thousand tons. In January 2023, Kyrgyzstan stopped purchasing wheat and flour from Kazakhstan, while in the same period of 2022, purchases totaled 24 tons and 768 tons, respectively. Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan imported 222 thousand tons of wheat in 2022, with 97% of the supply coming from Russia.
