In the first quarter of 2021, China led as the dominant market for Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports, accounting for 64.7% of the market share and reaching a value of 610.8 million USD, marking a 16.2% increase from the previous year. This growth is largely due to high exports of dragon fruit, mango, bananas, coconuts, and jackfruit. Other significant markets include the United States and Myanmar, with the export value to the United States experiencing a decline while that to Myanmar saw an increase. The period from April to June is anticipated to see higher demand for fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables due to hot weather. Meanwhile, the import value of vegetables and fruits into Vietnam from China, the United States, and Myanmar in the first four months of 2021 increased by 59.6%, 5.9%, and 35.1% respectively compared to the same period in 2020. Prices for various fruits such as pineapples, dragon fruits, and mangoes are experiencing fluctuations due to harvesting seasons and supply conditions.
