U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed –as Bichos de Campo had previously reported– that he is managing an expansion of the import quota of beef for Argentina and, as is usual at this time, a flood of political operations and unfounded opinions have erupted, leaving behind what is truly relevant in the issue, which is precisely the information. President Javier Milei wanted to announce the expansion of the export quota of beef during the last Rural Expo in Palermo, but it could not be done due to a tariff issue –thanks to Trump. The current quota granted by the U.S. to Argentina comprises 20,000 tons annually with a preferential tariff of just 40 U.S. dollars per ton (less than 1% considering the average FOB export value to that destination). Outside the quota, the tariff is 26.4%, which means that it is now a total of 36.4% when adding the additional ten points applied this year by Trump in a discretionary manner.
