The Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters Association in Turkey has distributed over 5,000 sourness beetle traps and 2 million nettle nets, and introduced new drying crayfish and harvesting nets to help improve the quality and yield of dried figs, and prevent contamination. The association has also been running the 'Dried Figs with Aflatoxin Project' since 2000, destroying around half a million kg of contaminated dried figs annually. In the 2019/20 season, dried fig exports saw a 16% increase in quantity and a 5% increase in value, reaching 67,460 tons and earning 233 million 452 thousand dollars. Germany, France, and the United States were the top three importers of Turkish dried figs.
