The article reports a decrease in Turkey's milk and dairy products exports and imports in 2020 compared to the previous year, with a 12.5 percent quantity decrease and a 5.6 percent value decrease. Despite this, the removal of export barriers to China had a positive impact, leading to an 12.04 percent increase in exports to China in the first quarter of the year. Tarık Tezel, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Dairy, Meat, Food Industrialists and Producers Association (SETBİR), attributed the decrease in exports to a decline in milk powder exports and quarantine conditions from the COVID-19 pandemic. The article also discusses the potential for increasing export competitiveness and reaching pre-pandemic export levels in the second half of the year.
