In the first four months of 2021, São Paulo's agribusiness exports saw an 11.6% increase, reaching US $ 5.66 billion, while imports decreased by 4.3%, resulting in a surplus of US $ 4.11 billion, a 19.1% increase from the same period in 2020. The state's total exports also increased by 17.3%, totaling US $ 15.31 billion, while imports were 12.4% higher at US $ 21 billion, leading to a slight increase in the trade deficit. The sugar and alcohol sector, soy, meat, juices, and forest products were the main contributors to the exports, accounting for 78.1% of the sectorial external sales. There were varied changes in the values exported from the five groups between the first quarter of 2021 and the same period of the previous year.
