Russian dairy exports to China have seen a significant increase, with the total exceeding $8 million from January-July of this year, marking a 1.8 times increase compared to the same period last year. The exports consist of a variety of products, with dry dairy products such as whey and whole milk powder making up over 40% of the total value, and ice cream accounting for about a third. There has also been some success in supplying cheeses, primarily processed ones, with industry leaders like EkoNiva and Komos Group planning to expand their presence in the Chinese market. The weakening of the ruble and compensation for logistics costs are expected to boost the competitiveness of Russian suppliers in the global market, particularly in milk powder supplies to both CIS and non-CIS markets.
