Between January and April 2024, Peru experienced a 28.2% increase in donkey meat and by-product exports, totaling 691.1 tons. The exports were primarily to Vietnam in the form of meat and visors, while China received only donkey skins. The leading exporters were San Nicolas Import & Export S.A.C. and Top Connexion S.A.C., accounting for 28.3% and 25.8% of the shipments, respectively. This growth is anticipated to expand further due to a recent Peruvian-Chinese agreement, which aims to tap into the underexploited market for donkey meat and by-products in China.
