From May 1, 2021, to the present, Georgia has experienced a significant increase in its fruit exports, with a 25% rise in volume and a 36% increase in value compared to the same period last year. The country exported 28.7 thousand tons of peaches and nectarines, worth $26.1 million. The majority of these exports, accounting for 65% of the total, were sent to Russia. Armenia and Ukraine followed as the second and third largest importers. This increase in exports is facilitated by the involvement of 36 refrigeration farms in the harvesting process, up from 23 in the previous year, and a special working group dedicated to ensuring smooth fruit exports.
