In the 2023/24 season, Bulgaria's sunflower meal exports dropped by 29% from the previous year's record, reaching just under 0.5 million metric tons (Mmt). Despite this decline, exports were slightly above the five-year average of 0.48 Mmt, due to a weak harvest in 2023. The majority of these exports, 0.42 Mmt, went to third countries, with China being the largest buyer at 0.37 Mmt, making up 76% of all exports. In the 2022/23 season, exports were higher at 0.7 Mmt, with China also leading the market share.
