The agri-food sector in Castilla y León has seen solid growth in exports, with a 32% increase from 2015-2020 and a 9% increase in the first quarter of 2021. In 2020, exports reached a value of over 2,400 million euros, which was 18% of the region's total exports. The meat sector, including pork, beef, and sheep meat, was the largest contributor to these exports, followed by beverages, particularly wine, and dairy products, eggs, and honey. The provinces of Burgos, Palencia, and Valladolid were the main food exporting provinces. The main destinations for these exports were Portugal and France, with China becoming a significant market since 2029. The growth rate of regional agri-food sales is higher than the national average.
