The 2021 fishery export report shows an improvement in both volume and foreign currency earnings compared to the previous year, with a total of 515 thousand tons exported, generating 1,990 million dollars. Despite this growth, the average price of most species, excluding hubbsi hake and shrimp, fell. Shrimp was the best-selling and most valuable resource, contributing to half of the total foreign currency earned. There was a significant increase in demand and foreign exchange income for hubbsi hake and shrimp, while squid exports saw a significant decrease. Spain was the primary destination for these exports, followed by Italy, the United States, China, and Brazil.
