Frog meat prices hit a record high in Vietnam

Farmers in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam are facing challenges in frog farming due to high costs and risks, despite the product fetching a high price in the market. The price of farmed frogs has increased significantly compared to the previous year, with traders and collectors paying between 43,000-47,000 VND/kg and retailers selling at 60,000-65,000 VND/kg. This not only meets domestic demand but also caters to processing and export needs. However, the high profit margin has attracted more farmers, increasing the demand for breeding stock and feed, which are becoming scarce and expensive. These factors, along with other input cost increases, are putting a strain on the sustainability and profitability of frog farming in the region.
