Demand for green onion falls short of expectation in Turkey

In the Inhisar district of Bilecik, one of the vegetable production centers of the Marmara Region, the greenhouse producer was adversely affected by the hot weather and drought. The majority of workers in the harvest and cleaning of green onions are women. After completing their housework in the morning, women who go to the field clean the collected products from the mud and turn them into bundles. The green onions cleaned in the washing pools are sent to many provinces of Turkey, especially the Marmara Region. Demand for green onions decreased due to the fact that the air temperature was above seasonal normals. Producers are having trouble making up for their expenses due to the dry weather.
