Farmers in Bangladesh are showing a growing interest in cultivating Robi crops such as potato, sweet potato, chilly, pulse, mustard, onion, garlic, sweet gourd, cucumber, coriander, kawn, sesame and tishi, particularly on sandy char lands and river beds. This is due to the low production cost and ease of cultivation. For example, sweet potato can yield 50 to 60 maunds per bigha, with each maund selling for Tk 500 to 550. Additionally, these crops require less fertilizers and irrigation.
