This autumn, Romanian farmers sowed a record 806,400 hectares with rapeseed, while last year these areas did not exceed 700,000 hectares, according to official operational data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Romania. The data is processed as of December 4. Among the cereals, the largest sown areas are with winter wheat – 2.235 million hectares. This is followed by barley with 501,100 hectares, while those with triticale are 70,000 hectares, and with rye – only 10,800 hectares. The Ministry also reported that the data for this year's harvest of the main agricultural crops in Romania is currently being processed, and the preliminary results will be announced at the end of March in a statement by the Romanian National Statistical Institute.
