Farmers in Lesvos are escalating their mobilizations, with the blockade of the port of Mytilene already causing chain reactions in critical sectors of the local economy, such as tourism. Since the morning of Wednesday, April 15, ferry routes connecting Mytilene with the opposite Anatolian coasts have been suspended due to the ongoing mobilization at the port. At the same time, by decision of the Regional Council, the regional governor ordered the Port Authority of Mytilene "to open the port of Mytilene for all dairy and derivative products." Call to strengthen the mobilizations The Federation of Agricultural Unions of Lesvos, which organized the mobilizations, calls on farmers and livestock breeders to strengthen the blockade at the port, and has announced a new island-wide mobilization for Thursday, April 16. As emphasized in the announcement, "we are fighting for survival and demand an immediate solution to the impasse that the government's intransigence has led us to."
