Tanzanian farmers, particularly spice farmers, have expressed gratitude to President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her efforts in securing new markets and expanding existing ones, leading to increased demand for spices, mainly from Dar es Salaam. This surge has resulted in higher prices for spices such as clove, cinnamon, and black pepper, allowing farmers to improve their living standards. The surge has also enabled farmers to improve product quality and link them to high-value markets, with activities like drying, packaging, sorting, grading, and storage adding value to the products. The global market price for Tanzania cloves ranges from US$7.77 to US$5.29 kilogram or between US$3.52 to US$2.4 per pound, and the average price for a tonne is US$7,767.73 in Mwanza and Dar es Salaam.
