The Haryana government has introduced the 'Mera Pani Meri Virasat Yojana' as part of its Crop Diversification Scheme, encouraging farmers to grow water-conserving crops rather than paddy in Kharif-2021. This initiative aims to combat the ongoing depletion of groundwater due to continuous paddy cultivation. Farmers will be incentivized with Rs 7,000 per acre to cultivate alternative crops such as cotton, maize, pulses, and vegetables. The registration deadline for the scheme has been extended to July 15, 2021.
