The General Syndicate of Agricultural Farmers in Egypt is urging the government to increase the prices of sugarcane and beets provided by farmers due to the high costs of agriculture and the need to align with global prices. The syndicate emphasizes that these crops, with high expenses for cultivation, are not as profitable as short-term crops. The cost of sugarcane cultivation exceeds the selling price, and there is a gap between the country's sugar production and consumption, with around 8,000 acres less of sugarcane cultivation in Luxor. The syndicate also requests an incentive package for farmers to shift from traditional sugarcane planting to modern seedlings and support for farmers to improve profitability.
