[Agricultural, Fisheries, and Livestock Newspaper=Reporter Kim Jin-oh] The sustainability of our rural areas is being threatened by population decline and aging. Particularly, the insufficient income of farming households makes it extremely difficult for new generations to settle and live in the countryside. Amid these circumstances, farming-type solar power projects are being noted as an alternative to create new vitality and sustainability in rural areas. However, due to complex regulations such as the Agricultural Land Act and the Electricity Business Act, as well as the lack of power generation facilities, it is also a reality that it is difficult to ensure the sustainability of the project. Recently, voices calling for the legislation of farming-type solar power are growing louder, and in fact, there are already six related legislative proposals in the 22nd National Assembly.
