Brazil's hydrothermal and industrial animal feed production reached 42 million tonnes in the first half of the year, marking a 1.4% increase from the same period in the previous year, according to the National Union of the Animal Feed Industry (Sindirações). The quarterly growth rate varied, with a 1.1% increase in Q2 over Q2 2023 and a 1.7% increase in Q1 2023. The production growth for the year is projected to be 2.3%, totaling over 86 million tons, with variations in demand based on the type of feed. Demand for broiler feed remained stable, and the cost of feed for broilers and pigs decreased by over 20% due to lower corn prices. The production is expected to consume around 55 million tons of corn and over 18 million tons of soybean meal, among other ingredients.
