FENAZEITES warns of the dramatic situation in the sector of Portugal

In a year in which the production of olive oil is expected to reach values in the order of 180,000 tons, which is the biggest campaign since there are records, FENAZEITES learned that the entire olive sector in Alentejo has been paralyzed, since the picking olives from the presses that transform it. Due to the boom seen in this year's production, the three large units for receiving olive pomace from the cooperative and non-cooperative mills, which process all the olives produced in the Alentejo, have their storage capacity exhausted or practically exhausted and not accept more raw material. This whole situation is causing untold damage to farmers and companies linked to the sector, and what can happen to the olive oil value chain will be terrifying, as there is nowhere to put that olive pomace, whose estimated production is expected to reach 900,000,000 Kgs.
