FGV: Ore and soybeans pressure wholesale inflation in the IGP-10 for August

By Daniela Amorim Rio, 18/08/2025 - The increases in the prices of iron ore (9.37%) and soybeans in grain (2.47%) drove inflation in the wholesale market within the General Price Index - 10 (IGP-10) for August, reported the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV). There was also pressure from bananas (11.88%), crude soybean oil (3.95%), and plastic pipes, hoses, and hoses (11.68%). The IGP-10 went from a reduction of 1.65% in July to an advance of 0.16% in August. The index accumulated an increase of 2.84% over 12 months. "Under the influence of the strong increases recorded in iron ore between July and August - and, to a lesser extent, in soybeans in grain - the IPA (Broad Producer Price Index) started to rise again after five consecutive months of decline," pointed out Matheus Dias, an economist from the Brazilian Institute of Economics of FGV (Ibre/FGV), in an official statement.
