The first case of Xylella in the province of Valencia, Spain

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Valencian Community has reported the first case of Xylella fastidiosa in the province of Valencia, specifically in an almond farm located in the municipality of Villalonga (La Safor region). According to the latest data from the Ministry, as of December 31, 2020, the demarcated area already reaches 135,305 hectares in a total of 63 municipalities. The demarcated area has increased by 7,000 ha in one year. More than 800 positives have been detected (633 positives in almond, 1 positive in plum, 1 positive in apricot and 200 positives in ornamental and forest plants), of which more than 20% correspond to forest plant species. The almond tree continues to be the most infected species.
