Moldova's first consumer egg manufacturer has been granted permission to export its products to the European Union, marking a significant achievement for the country's poultry industry. This comes after Moldova was authorized to export poultry products to the EU in March 2023. The EU is Moldova's primary economic partner, accounting for 65% of its exports. Despite challenges such as avian influenza outbreaks and low capacity utilization ratios in farms, the industry comprises 43 industrial farms, 227,000 individual farms, and has an annual broiler meat capacity of 45,000 tonnes. The industry is looking for comprehensive development measures, including market protection, reduced VAT for poultry farmers, and improved state procurement systems, to enhance poultry meat production.
