The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries in Indonesia has initiated a campaign to encourage more fish consumption after finding that the country's per capita fish consumption is lower than its neighboring countries. The per capita consumption in 2022 was 39.7 kg, which is a significant increase from 24.6 kg in 2010, but still falls short of the consumption levels in Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Vietnam. The most commonly consumed types of fish in Indonesia are tuna, tuna, and skipjack tuna. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the health benefits of fish, which include high protein content and essential vitamins and minerals. The campaign also aims to address the distribution challenges that limit the supply of fish in the domestic market.
