The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries in Indonesia is encouraging the cultivation of sea bass to meet domestic and export market demands. The Directorate General of Aquaculture has successfully bred giant trevally fish since 2018, and in 2020, BPBL Ambon produced 149 brood fish and distributed 23,000 fish seeds. Sea bass, a high-economic value marine fishery commodity, is popular in Eastern Indonesia and has a stable selling price, even during the COVID-19 pandemic. The water quality in Maluku Province is suitable for the growth of sea bass, making it a potentially rapid developing industry.
