An Giang province in Vietnam has implemented an 'ecological technology' program in rice production, participating with 3,652 farmers over 3,212 hectares from the winter-spring crop 2020-2021. The program, which includes cultivation techniques, pest control, and ecological planting of flowers to attract natural enemies of pests, has led to a significant reduction in pest densities and the use of pesticides, with economic benefits and environmental protection. Despite challenges like watering flowers and narrow bank spaces, the department is seeking ministry recognition of the ecological technology as a technical advancement and promoting communication and farmer participation. The program is also being implemented in areas with tourist spots and rural tourism operators.
