The Korea Meat Distribution and Export Association predicts an increase in pork carcass prices, expected to range from 5700-5900 won per kg (excluding Jeju), due to rising summer vacation demand despite a decline in household consumption caused by high interest rates, stock market downturns, and real estate price hikes. The association also noted a shift towards cheaper meat options and more frozen meat purchases. In June, Korea imported over 35,000 tons of pork, mainly from Spain and the Netherlands, marking a 45.4% increase compared to the same period last year. Additionally, concerns about global feed prices have been raised due to potential price hikes in Japan and reduced pig feed in the EU, which could impact pork supply and prices.
