Turkey: The Seed Project protects our agricultural values

Turkish Seed Association continues its efforts to support local seeds. Hatay was the last leg of the activities in the Trail of the Seed, which was carried out with the collection and protection of ancestral seed samples. 153 seed materials were collected in the Hatay Province Local Varieties Collection Project, which was supported in the 5th phase of the "Following the Seed" Social Responsibility Project carried out by the Turkish Seed Association (TÜRKTOB) since 2016. In the project carried out by the Aegean Agricultural Research Institute, small family businesses using heirloom seeds were visited in the Samandağ, Yayladağı, Altınözü, Reyhanlı and Kırıkhan districts of Hatay province during the local variety seed collection activities. Dozens of seeds were collected from the Hatay region.
